Earthquake Relief

“It was 11:10am when our house began to shake uncontrollably. We have experienced earthquakes in our region of Afghanistan, but nothing like this. After discovering our immediate family and home were okay, we heard that the epicenter was just 20 miles outside our city.

I lead a team from Morning Star. Our team began to make a plan and gather supplies to work in the villages where our staff had been running programs for years. When our team arrived early the next morning with vans full of food, we saw whole villages completely destroyed.

Thousands of people were killed in the earthquakes and 90% of them were women and children in their homes. The rescue workers were trying to remove the rubble from the bodies. Our team went to the survivors and provided food, water, shelter, sanitary supplies, and trauma care.”
